The free wedding site that helps charities

Ceremoney Home > How We Help

How can my wedding help a charity?

A lot of hotels, cars, and flights are booked for weddings, and a lot of registry gifts are purchased as well. We earn a commission because our site generates sales for travel and registry sites, and we then share that commission with the charities our members designate.

Do other wedding sites do this?

Other sites make plenty in commissions, but they don't share it with charities. They have lots of rent and employees to pay for...we don't.

How do you save guests money?

We maintain a database of promotional codes and other discounts offered by major travel and registry merchants. When guests visit a couple's Ceremoney page, they see offers specifically related to that couple's wedding location, registry, etc. These discounts increase the likelihood that you guests will book through our site, which increases the amount you earn for your charity.

How much can a couple generate for their charity?

That depends on the number of guests who book travel and buy gifts, but most importantly, it depends on the number of guests who do those things through the couple's Ceremoney page. This system is entirely commission-based; the more bookings that occur, the more commissions are generated. It's possible to earn several hundred dollars if you have numerous out-of-town guests who book online; it's possible to earn nothing if you have a small wedding and everybody is local.

How much does Ceremoney.com earn?

We donate 50% of our yearly commissions to the charity, and we pay our bills out of what's left, so the number varies - but we end up getting less than the charities do as a result.

When does the charity get paid?

We cut checks once per year, at the end of the calendar year. For simplicity, we won't send a check unless we've raised at least $500 for a particular charity, but we'll simply roll the money over to the next year when that happens.

Can engaged couples generate money for a charity if somebody books a business trip through this site?

Absolutely. Whether the travel (or gift-giving) is wedding-specific or not makes no difference. Couples can also earn commissions for bachelor and bachelorette party travel, honeymoon reservations, etc.

How does Ceremoney fit in with TheKnot, WeddingChannel, and other wedding websites?

We encourage couples to continue using their "standard" wedding website but to provide a link to their Ceremoney page from there, and we encourage you to TELL YOUR GUESTS to book through your Ceremoney page. Ceremoney should be used primarily for bookings and purchases. For an example of what we mean, move your mouse over these words.

OK, I'm interested. What do I do next?

If you are planning your wedding, create your personal Ceremoney page, which will take about two minutes, and you can start generating commissions for charity immediately thereafter. If you are attending a wedding, search our directory for couples you know. Or, if you are a wedding service provider, have a look at what Ceremoney can do for your business.
